Household chemicals
Household chemicals are a category of products that includes a wide range of items — from laundry detergents and cleaning agents to shampoos, liquid soaps, gels, bleaches, and more. All these products share one common feature: a highly aggressive chemical environment, which the packaging must reliably withstand. High-quality packaging film serves two crucial functions: it protects the contents and prevents harmful effects of the product on the environment and the consumer.
Key requirements for household chemical packaging
- Strength and resistance to mechanical impact. Packaging must withstand the weight of the product, transportation, and warehouse handling without tearing or cracking, even under rough handling.
- Chemical inertness and resistance to aggressive substances. Materials used for packaging must resist acids, alkalis, solvents, alcohols, surfactants, fats, and more, ensuring the integrity of the packaging throughout the product’s shelf life.
- High barrier properties. The film should effectively protect the contents from moisture, oxygen, and UV exposure, and prevent the evaporation of active ingredients, maintaining the stability and effectiveness of the chemical formula.
- Sealing and secure closure. Welded edges and strong seams ensure that the contents do not leak or seep out, even under strong compression or if the package is dropped.
Types of packaging for household chemicals
- Multi-layer film bags (PET/PE, PET/AL/PE, etc.) — for high barrier protection and strength.
- Doypacks with zipper closure — convenient for liquid and gel products, allowing multiple openings and closings.
- Bags with special valves or handles — make transport and dosing easier.
- Single-use sachets — ideal for samples, mini-packages of shampoos, or cleaning agents.
Printing and design
Packaging for household chemicals usually features bright, recognizable designs. Flexographic or rotogravure printing allows high-quality images with effects such as metallization, matte finishing, or varnishing. These solutions not only attract the customer’s attention but also reflect the product’s functionality and market positioning.
